Post Office Weekend Hours

Most post office retail lobbies are open on Saturday, though typically for a shorter window than weekdays — commonly a morning-only schedule ending around noon or early afternoon. Some smaller contract postal units and village post offices keep different Saturday hours entirely, or close for the weekend.

This shorter Saturday window doesn't affect delivery to your home or business — letter carriers still run their normal routes on Saturdays just like any weekday. What changes is when the building itself is staffed for counter transactions like buying stamps, mailing packages, or picking up certified mail.

Some post offices keep a Self-Service Kiosk in the lobby that stays accessible longer than the retail counter, letting you buy postage or drop off pre-paid packages without waiting for staffed hours — worth checking for on a Saturday afternoon or before Monday morning. Not every location has one, and PO Box access is usually on its own schedule too, often 24/7 at locations that offer it.

Sunday retail service is rare. The vast majority of post offices are closed to the public on Sundays, and regular mail delivery doesn't run — the main exception is Priority Mail Express, which USPS delivers seven days a week, including Sundays, in many areas.
